Lance Armstrong Returns Medal

Lance Armstrong has returned his bronze medal from the Sydney 2000 Olympics to the United States Olympic Committee.

The IOC requested the medal be returned following his confession earlier this year.

Armstrong tweeted, ""The 2000 Bronze is back in possession of @usolympics and will be in Switzerland asap," after he returned the medal.

"I can confirm that the United States Olympic Committee has received the bronze medal awarded to Lance Armstrong at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney," said Patrick Sandusky, USOC spokesman.

"The International Olympic Committee and the USOC had previously requested that the medal be returned. The USOC has made arrangements to return the medal to the IOC."

Olympic Museum Delays

Delays in the renovation of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne will push back the opening.

The museum has been closed since 2012.

Originally supposed to open at the end of October, December 10th is now the target date.

The reopening in December will include a ceremony marking the ceremonial handover of keys to the IOC headquarters from Jacques Rogge to new president Thomas Bach.

Cher Rebuffs Sochi

Cher was asked to perform at the upcoming Sochi Olympics and "immediately said no."

According to an interview with Canadian outlet MacLean’s, the American recording artist and actress "want[s] to know why all of this gay hate just exploded over there."

The Russian government has come under fire repeatedly in recent months for a law enacted earlier this year discriminating against homosexual behavior.

Cher, 67, is a longtime gay rights advocate and icon. She is also the mother of a transgender son, Chaz.
