(ATR) A new poll from French newspaper Le Figaro shows an overwhelming majority of Parisians don’t want the Olympics.
Over 52,000 Parisians responded with only 20 percent saying they were in favor of hosting the 2024 Olympics.
Paris last hosted the Olympics in 1924.
France is considering bidding for the 2024 Olympics with President Francois Hollande expressing support in a French television interview last Thursday.
"I am in favor of the city of Paris, if it decides to, putting in a bid for the Olympic Games of 2024," Hollande was quoted from the interview by French news agency AFP.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo says that feasibility studies have been performed to see if hosting the Games is the right move for Paris, and they will be released in January.
Last Tuesday, French sport leaders, including national Olympic committee president Denis Masseglia, and International Rugby Board president Bernard Lapassett, who is chairing the feasibility study, met in Paris to discuss the possibility of the bid.
Germany, Italy, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United States are among countries who have expressed interest in the 2024 race.
