Lima 2019 : Final Quota Places Allocated for Archery

A total of 84 recurve and compound archers will compete at the upcoming Pan American Games.

Archery’s final 20 quota places for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games were awarded on 4 April at a world ranking tournament being held in Santiago de Chile.

Brazil’s men and Cuba’s women upgraded their quotas to the full three-athlete teams in the recurve divisions.

Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru and Venezuela picked up additional individual places in the recurve (maximum two) or compound (maximum one) competitions.

Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and USA are the four nations to collect the complete eight-athlete quota for the Games.

A total of 84 archers will compete at Lima 2019.

The recurve events will be contested between 32 athletes of each gender, 64 in total, while the new compound events feature 10 men and 10 women.

Archery was introduced to the Pan Am Games in 1979. It was announced in February 2017 that the 2019 edition of the event would be first to include compound archery.

It will be the third continental multisport event to hold a compound competition. The Asian Games added the bowstyle in 2014 and it will make its debut at the European Games in June this year.
