Lausanne, 16 October 2018 - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered an urgent appeal

filed by the Football Kenya Federation against the decision taken by the Confederation Africaine du

Football (CAF) Appellate Body dated 7 November 2018 in which an earlier decision taken by the CAF

Disciplinary Council to disqualify the Equatorial Guinea team from the 2018 CAF Women’s Cup of

Nations due to their alleged fielding of an ineligible player during a qualifying match was overturned,

leaving the Kenyan team unable to take part in the tournament.

Football Kenya Federation seeks a ruling from CAS annulling the challenged decision of 7 November

2018 in order for Football Kenya Federation to be reintegrated into the tournament in place of

Equatorial Guinea.

In addition to its appeal, Football Kenya Federation filed an urgent request for provisional measures

requesting the annulment of the challenged decision and its reinstatement to the competition. The CAF

filed a written reply submission and earlier today, the President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration

Division issued an Order on Provisional Measures rejecting FKF’s request for provisional measures.
