(ATR) Brazilian Ministry of Tourism could relax visa requirements to enter the country for the Olympics.

According to a report from Agency Brazil, the ministry is debating how to boost tourism before, during and after the Games.

One possible solution for travel restrictions would be to ease visa requirements for Olympic Travelers.

During the 2014 FIFA World Cup, foreign travelers who would normally require a visa to enter Brazil, could get one through having a copy of a World Cup ticket.

"The idea is that we can establish, in advance, what counts for a period, an ease of visas for professionals and tourists alike," Vinicius Lages, minister of tourism, said.

Lages said the Brazilian government could create an "Olympic Passport" that travelers could obtain to make entering Brazil in 2016 easier.

"One of the main markets is the United States. Therefore, we would have a priority gesture because the Olympics are of much interest to this audience."

Rio 2016 did not return request for comment on the report.

In addition to relaxing visas for Olympic tourists, the ministry hopes to encourage travelers to all parts of Brazil.

The ministry is discussing the creation of a "Brazil Pass," which would include discounts on airfare and lodging for tourists travelling around to different areas of the country.

An estimated 350,000 to 500,000 tourists are expected to visit Brazil for the Olympics.
