Argentina Baseball National Team visited the WBSC initiation zone at the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 and enjoyed a great afternoon, teaching the kids from schools and having some fun playing Baseball5.

Buenos Aires 2018 has established a programme called "The School goes to the Games" (La Escuela va a los Juegos), taking thousands of kids in scholar ages to the four Olympic parks to watch some competitions, experience first hand new sports and learn the rules of each discipline.

Under this programme, members of the Argentina National Team accompany the kids trough the different exercises, explaining the fundamentals of the sport and showing the proper techniques of the game.

The Argentinian players also took the opportunity to learn the rules of Baseball5 – the new urban, youth-oriented WBSC discipline – and play a game.

Baseball softball is growing fast in Argentina. In April this year Los Gauchos claimed the title in the South American Baseball Championship over their rivals, Brazil, and qualified to the Pan American Games for the first time in history.

At the same time, the Men’s Softball program is the No. 4 in the WBSC World Ranking.

It is expected that WBSC activation in the Initiation Zone will introduce the sport to more than 3,000 girls and boys in Argentina, helping to grow the new generation of baseball softball players in the country and South America.
