Misiones del gobierno colombiano visitan regiones fronterizas con Venezuela

El objetivo es evaluar los avances del Plan de Fortalecimiento de Fronteras en los 40 municipios de los siete departamentos limítrofes. Las misiones, encabezadas por ministros, viceministros y directores de entidades, visitarán la región a partir de este jueves y hasta el próximo sábado, para hacer seguimiento a los compromisos adquiridos por el Gobierno con las poblaciones afectadas por el cierre fronterizo y evaluar los avances de la gestión gubernamental durante los últimos cinco años.


Desde agosto pasado, cuando el presidente venezolano, Nicolás Maduro, ordenó el cierre del paso fronterizo entre Norte de Santander y el estado Táchira, 1.768 colombianos han sido expulsados por Venezuela y más de 22.000 han abandonado ese país por miedo a correr la misma suerte.

Venezuela también clausuró los pasos que comunican los departamentos de La Guajira con el estado Zulia y Arauca con Apure, con el argumento de combatir el contrabando y el paramilitarismo en la zona limítrofe.


Las visitas a las zonas fronterizas anteceden a la que el presidente colombiano, Juan Manuel Santos, hará el sábado a Arauca, capital del departamento del mismo nombre.

Allí el jefe de Estado evaluará los resultados del Plan Fronteras para la Prosperidad aprobado en mayo de 2014 y los compromisos para aliviar la situación de la población fronteriza afectada por el cierre que comenzó el 19 de agosto último.

Según el Gobierno, en la frontera con Venezuela se han ejecutado 171 proyectos en diferentes frentes y están en ejecución otros 108 en La Guajira, Cesar, Norte de Santander, Boyacá, Arauca, Vichada y Guainía, departamentos fronterizos con Venezuela.
